Terminals

The chimney is the terminal part of the flue that comes through the roof.

The chimney is an important factor that can determine a good or a bad chimney draught.

As the chimney is the external part of the flue it is naturally exposed to the elements and, more importantly, to the intensity and direction of the winds.

The chimney must be covered so as not to allow rain or snow to enter the flue where it can reach the fire, putting it out, but must also be designed in such a way that the wind itself does not enter sending the smoke back down.

The terminals are the components that are installed at the top of a flue to protect the Chimney system.

Their design must ensure the free flow of gases and smoke.

It must be made so as to prevent the entry of rainwater, even in heavy downpours.

It must have aerodynamic features such as to ensure the dispersal of the flue gases and smoke even in the presence of strong winds.

It must be shaped to avoid the entry of birds that with their possible nesting can obstruct the flue.
